BrightCap Ventures, a VC fund based in Sofia, Bulgaria, is one of the early investors in LucidLink.
Our decision to support LucidLink was based on our strong belief in their team, their new approach towards solving an old problem, and the enormity of the market that their solution services.
“Global founders. Local engineers.”
This is BrightCap’s mission statement, and LucidLink aligns with it perfectly. George and Peter, LucidLink’s founders, are based in Silicon Valley, — the global center of many clients. Meanwhile, LucidLink’s strong development teams are locally sourced in Bulgaria.
The Founders’ combined professional experience spans over 40+ years in the data storage industry. Experience, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence resonates among all of their investors and business partners. Also, LucidLink leverages local engineering talent, creating an additional benefit of efficiency, in a way that few Silicon Valley start-ups can do.
George and Peter came up with their idea based on a real-world problem faced during their days at DataCore. They were managing distributed teams, working with huge files, and needed to share and collaborate on these massive files. As an investor, we immediately recognized tremendous benefits in this entrepreneurial venture: they were addressing and tackling a real problem, which critically needed a modern solution.
LucidLink has invented an intelligent technology that streams even the most massive of files from any S3-compatible cloud object storage, skipping the downloading and syncing. This new, efficient, secure, and agile model has filled a missing gap between the Dropbox (EFSS) and storage gateway technologies.
The market for LucidLink’s solution is vast and spans many verticals and types of clients. Users increasingly need to share and collaborate on files, rapidly and securely. This includes governmental agencies that require high security, agencies with rich media content, as well as businesses using large legacy apps (like CAD), and endless datasets. We believe that the potential of this pioneering file system, built for the ever-increasing need for cloud storage and computing, is nothing short of monumental.
BrightCap Ventures are delighted to be working with such a first-class team of professionals who are addressing such a pivotal issue with such an original and valuable approach.
