Microsoft’s Azure Blob storage has 30 regional locations that span six of the seven continents. Additionally, the performance exhibited in our testing shows that Azure Blob storage, when combined with LucidLink, is top-notch. This is important because LucidLink unleashes the hyperscaler storage’s performance potential via technology features such as local disk caching, intelligent read prefetching, and most importantly … parallel TCP connections to and from the storage.
Remember, file sync and share technology is inefficient and was made essentially obsolete with the advent of LucidLink. With LucidLink, you only stream the data bits on-demand directly to and from the client and storage. Yes … LucidLink removes the issues of file size, distance, and latency.
Let’s delve further … By default, LucidLink allots 5GB of local disk cache on the client. This is expandable up to 1TB on the spinning disk or SSD of choice. The default configuration for parallel TCP connections are 64 up to the storage and 64 down to the client. Both can be decreased in number and are expandable up to 1000 parallel channels each!
LucidLink eliminates the barrier of one file equals one object. The default block size of data is 256KB. So at 64 parallel TCP connections to or from the client and the storage, that’s 64*256KB up and 64*256KB down. Depending on the client’s WAN connection to the storage, those parallel connections can be configured to maximize the data throughput over the available bandwidth or throttle it back.
With LucidLink, cloud storage … in this case, Azure Blob storage … will perform as local disk, and use cases of cloud storage for high transactional data applications are a reality!
