BIG Creative and LucidLink collaboration delivering live sports anywhere.

About

Founded in 2021, BIG Creative is a sports-focused creative consultancy and production studio built on more than a decade of front-office and live-event experience.

The team has supported thousands of premium events across professional and collegiate sports, including work spanning the National Football League, Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, National Basketball Association and National Collegiate Athletic Association, as well as international sports and large-scale live entertainment.

Background

Live sports don't wait. Neither can the content that brings them to life.

For BIG Creative, that means editing on airplanes, tweaking graphics in hotel rooms and delivering final files inside stadiums — sometimes minutes before doors open.

From day one, the studio operated remotely. As projects scaled across leagues and venues, so did the pressure on their workflow.

We spoke to Founder and CEO, Will Posthumus, about how BIG Creative adapted and built a workflow as fast as the sports they cover.

The challenge: physical workflows in a borderless business

Three challenges of BIG Creativie - External no backup, Google Drive archive and Frame.io, review only.

Before LucidLink, BIG Creative relied on a patchwork setup:

  • External hard drives with no real redundancy

  • Google Drive for archive and delivery

  • Frame.io for reviews, but not working files

It worked, until it didn’t.

Working files lived on individual machines. Drives became single points of failure. Collaboration slowed when the wrong person was offline (or unavailable).

The breaking point came during a college bowl game.

A primary creator became seriously ill mid-event, and the rest of the team couldn’t access the working files they needed to keep moving. Projects were effectively locked to a single machine, with deadlines still ticking.

For Will, this was the moment everything clicked: the workflow wasn’t resilient enough for live sports, and it wasn’t set up for scale.

Finding LucidLink

BIG Creative was first introduced to LucidLink while collaborating with partners already using it on major NFL projects.

“We were scattered across the country, working from airplanes, hotels and stadium control rooms,” Will shared. “We needed a way to collaborate without being in the same room.”

The real proof came inside a NFL stadium control room.

Instead of waiting on exports and transfers, the team logged into the same LucidLink filespace and worked directly from shared project files, even on venue Wi-Fi.

The moment I got access, I thought, ‘whoa, this is working way faster and smoother off control room Wi-Fi than I ever expected.’ That was my proof of concept.

After evaluating other options, LucidLink stood out for its performance, simplicity and pricing that actually fit a growing creative business.

The solution: remote collaboration that keeps up

Today, LucidLink sits at the center of BIG Creative’s workflow, a shared foundation that works wherever live sports takes them.

Accessing a creative file on LucidLink.

One source of truth, everywhere

All active projects live in a shared LucidLink filespace.

Full-time staff and contractors collaborate in real time. Editors work directly from the same media, without syncing delays or version confusion. Performance holds up on hotel Wi-Fi, mobile hotspots and even in the air.

“Working on super dense 3D motion graphics on hotel Wi-Fi as if it was running natively off my internal hard drive — that blew my mind the first time it happened,” Will said.

Built to scale under live-event pressure

The value shows up most when the stakes are highest.

Right now, BIG Creative is building all in-venue content for the United Football League — across eight teams, in venues spread across the country.

For the project, the team scaled LucidLink users up as needed, bringing in the right collaborators at the right moments. Every working file, from early concepts to final renders, lives in one shared filespace.

“We’re sending working files and fully rendered content to eight different venues at the same time. Anything in progress lives on LucidLink. All updates happen there.”

Faster handoffs, fewer dependencies

With everyone working from the same files, edits happen in parallel. Handoffs are instant. Progress no longer depends on a single person being online — or on a drive, upload or export finishing in time.

LucidLink fits cleanly alongside the tools BIG Creative already uses, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Frame.io, without forcing a workflow rebuild.

The results: playoff-ready performance

LucidLink Peak playoff results.

Results at a glance:

  • No single point of failure, files are always accessible

  • Faster live-event turnaround, even under travel pressure

  • Lower reliance on physical drives and on-prem hardware

  • Stronger IP protection for playoff and pre-release content

On paper, these results save time. Under live-event pressure, they keep work moving.

Delivering under NFL playoff pressure

While supporting an NFL client during the playoffs, BIG Creative was handling highly sensitive content — material that couldn’t leak, couldn’t be delayed and needed to be reviewed in context, on site.

In the days leading up to the game, edits were made in one city as the team boarded a flight, continued midair and finalized after landing — before being delivered inside the stadium itself.

Without LucidLink, that workflow would have required physical drives and hard cutoffs.

Instead, working files moved seamlessly between creators as the team traveled.

The result was a secure, last-minute delivery and the rare chance to see that work live, in front of the audience it was built for. Just as importantly, the client knew their most sensitive assets were protected the entire way.

“It’s our insurance policy,” Will said. “If someone gets sick or priorities change, we can jump right in wherever somebody else left off.”

Beyond speed, LucidLink gives the team freedom to work where the work needs to happen, without worrying about access, handoffs or risk.

What’s next: scaling without slowing down

As BIG Creative continues to scale, the team plans to:

  • Add more users as projects ramp up

  • Explore guest access for client reviews and delivery

  • Unlock more value from new LucidLink features

“We plan to add more users, explore guest access for client reviews and unlock more value from new features, all to remove friction and focus on making the best possible work, wherever we are,” Will shared.

The goal stays simple:

Protect the work. Keep teams moving. And make sure live sports never misses a moment.
