New in LucidLink: faster performance, mobile and admin upgrades

Last updated 20 August, 2026

Our engineers are impervious to the summer slowdown.

Here's everything that recently shipped across performance, mobile and enterprise administration.

Local performance improvements

We've made meaningful improvements to local cache performance for teams working with heavy media or data-intensive applications. The gains vary by platform:

  • Linux: up to 80% faster writes and 50% faster reads

  • macOS: up to 40% faster reads and 20% faster writes

  • Windows: up to 30% faster reads

Direct-to-app launch with macOS universal links

Mac users can now launch direct links instantly.

When you click a LucidLink direct link from an email, Slack or web browser, macOS automatically routes it straight to the desktop app via Universal Links. That means no extra browser tabs, you just get immediate access to your assets.

Clear Cache (formerly Drop Cache)

Clear Cache settings.

We redesigned cache management to give you full control over local storage.

Accessible under pinned items, you can now safely purge local cache to recover disk space immediately. A confirmation prompt prevents accidental removal.

Mobile updates

Mobile gallery view.

The upgrades to our mobile apps keep on coming.

The latest updates to iOS and Android bring desktop-grade visibility and asset management to your mobile devices. Here’s what’s new:

  • Gallery view & visual previews (iOS): browse high-resolution photo and video thumbnails visually. iOS extends visual previews to PDF documents, making asset identification easier.

  • Direct mobile ingest (Android): use "Share to LucidLink" to upload multiple files directly from other mobile apps into your LucidLink filespace in a single tap.

  • Real-time transfer analytics & video looping (iOS): track live upload/download speeds, view accurate ETA counters and toggle video looping during playback to quickly inspect clip cuts.

  • Easier mobile SSO sign-in (iOS & Android): your SSO domain key is now securely stored on mobile devices so you don't have to re-enter it every time you open the app.

  • Mobile account security (iOS): manage 2FA, reset passwords and generate offline recovery backup codes directly inside the app.

  • Expanded telemetry: we’ve integrated 24 new analytics events on mobile to help us continuously refine and optimize performance based on real usage.

Enterprise administration and security

Instant member deactivation and reactivation.

A handful of updates this release make managing access across large teams and complex environments simpler.

Instant member deactivation and reactivation

Workspace admins can now deactivate members instantly, terminating all active sessions while preserving the member’s permissions, folder structures and account history.

Want to bring them back? Reactivate members in a single step, without reconfiguring their entire workspace.

N.B. For SCIM-managed workspaces, deactivation and reactivation sync via your identity provider.

Kerberos proxy authentication (Windows)

Teams operating behind strict enterprise network firewalls can now mount and interact with LucidLink filespaces natively via Kerberos-based proxy authentication. This eliminates credential workarounds and brings LucidLink in line with existing Windows security environments.

Admin & security quick-hits

  • Granular group permissions: Filespace Admins can now directly grant or revoke access to existing Workspace Groups within the filespaces they manage.

  • Flexible workspace creation: users with both an SSO identity and a LucidLink password can now create workspaces without permission deadlocks.

  • Enhanced 2FA protection: disabling Two-Factor Authentication now requires email verification and triggers alert notifications to prevent unauthorized account changes.

  • Streamlined service account key rotation: rotate Desktop daemon keys on the fly using the new lucid rotate-credentials CLI command. No filespace remounting required.

  • Automated upgrade cleanup: the Upgrade Tool now automatically deletes legacy service snapshots once Classic filespaces are decommissioned, freeing up occupied cloud storage.

Bug fixes and stability

Across all platforms, we addressed a couple of stability issues:

  • Multi-domain SSO link fix: resolved an issue where SSO users joining workspaces with multiple verified domains encountered a false "invalid invitation link" warning.

  • Permission loading optimization: fixed a UI slowdown where permission pages for users or groups timed out on workspaces with hundreds of filespaces.
