New in LucidLink: share and review work without the workarounds

The wait’s over: introducing Guest Access

Guest Access is a new way to securely share work with external collaborators who don’t have a LucidLink account. No extra seats, installs or side-channel file transfers needed.

Collaboration without handoff headaches

Most review workflows still rely on a patchwork of external tools, temporary accounts or “just upload it somewhere and hope for the best.” Guest Access removes these workarounds entirely.

No software, no problem

Clients can view and download large assets straight from their browser. No LucidLink client, no account setup and no learning curve.

Stop the third-party shuffle

Share directly from your filespace instead of copying data to an external transfer service. Files stay where they belong, under your control.

Zero-knowledge security, unchanged

Many shared links quietly give the provider access to your data. Guest Access doesn’t. It’s protected by LucidLink’s zero-knowledge security model, so only you and your recipient hold the keys. LucidLink never sees your files.

It’s the same filespace and security model, but with a much cleaner handoff for collaborators that don’t use LucidLink.

Simple, secure authentication

Guests authenticate using a temporary code sent to their email. No passwords or account creation necessary.

Full admin control

Revoke access at any time, or upgrade a guest to a full member if they need editing capabilities later.

Available now on all new LucidLink plans through the web dashboard (not available on Classic filespaces).

In this video, we'll demonstrate how to share folder access to guest users who are not a member of your workspace. Please note, modifying permissions can only be done by members with an admin or file space admin role. This includes the ability to create guest links. Using the LucidLink web app, click on a file space, then browse files to navigate the folder structure. Navigate to the folder you'd like to share, then click on the three dot menu to the right of that folder. Click on the share option. In the sharing window, click on the guests tab. Note, to share with a current member, use the members tab. Then type or paste email addresses of the intended guest users up to twenty five at a time. Click the plus button to create the guest user or users. Then click on copy guest link. This will load the invite link into your clipboard, but please note, you still need to paste this invite into an email or other messaging platform to share the guest link with your new guest users. When your guest users click on the invitation link, they will be asked to enter their email address. This sends a confirmation code to their email address and they must enter this code on the next screen. After successfully entering the confirmation code, the guest user can now access the web portal file browser where they can view or download the files you have granted them permission to access. If another user adds files to this shared folder, the contents will update in real time. No need to create additional links for new files as long as they are placed in the same folder. Guest users are free and provide the ability to view or download files using the LucidLink web app. To provide upload capability as well as desktop and mobile access, you would need to promote the guest user into a full member of your workspace. To promote a user, go to the member section of the workspace menu and locate the user with either the search bar or by scrolling manually. Click the three dot menu next to the guest user's name and choose change role. You can now choose one of the other roles such as standard user. After promoting this user, you can choose copy invite link and send this link to the user via email or other messaging platform. To revoke the access of a guest user, click the three dot menu next to the guest user's name and choose revoke access. To modify the folder permissions for a guest user, locate their username in either the members menu or the access and permissions menu. Click the three dot menu button next to their name to either add or remove specific folder access to the guest user. The permissions will update in real time. No need to send additional guest links. You can also modify a guest user's permissions by using the same share menu used to create the original guest link. Locate a folder you'd like to share with an existing guest, click on the three dot menu, click on the share option, and select the guests tab. You'll see any existing guests listed. Change the access to can view to allow this guest to see this folder. You can also revoke folder access from this menu.
